We are a self supported community volunteer organisation that was established in 1994. We have a constitution that directs how we operate. We are assisted by the Good Neighbour Support Service, Hampshire who provides information and help and we operate to their Good Practice Guide. All our volunteers are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check (DBS) which is a criminal record check. This is renewed every 5 years.
5
Do you only provide transport for medical appointments?
Due to the number of volunteer drivers available, we can only provide transport to take clients to medical appointments and other related health issues. This includes taking clients to visit a relative who is an in-patient in hospital or care home. We also take clients to rehabilitation classes. If you are not sure please call us on 0345 388 9063.

How much will it cost?
We request that clients reimburse the driver at 50 pence per mile. This is calculated from the driver’s home address and return. Depending where your driver resides, the cost will vary slightly for clients. Please see the attached guide at the foot of this page for average costs to local hospitals and Doctors Surgeries.
7
Can someone come with me?
Yes. It would help if you advise the coordinator at the time of booking transport that this will be the case.
8
Will you take wheelchairs and walking aids?
Yes. However it is important you let the coordinator know at the time of booking the transport in case a larger vehicle is required.
9
Will the driver stay with me?
Generally the driver will wait with you but should they need to leave they will make arrangements to meet you. The driver will also accompany you at the consultation if you request it.

When is your groups AGM and can I get transport to it if I wish to attend?
Our AGM is usually held in May or June and we do offer a transport service to clients wishing to attend. Clients are usually advised by the coordinator or driver approximately a month before the meeting.

Do you offer a friendship service if I feel lonely?
Unfortunately we do not offer a service that will allow volunteers to visit clients in their own home. Milford on Sea has a service and we can refer people to them when required.
12
Will I have to pay for car parking?
Drivers are given permits which allow them to park at hospitals without charge. Should your appointment be other than at a hospital on very rare occasions a public car park may have to be used and in those instances the client would be required to pay.

Whilst you are a passenger in a vehicle driven by one of our drivers your ‘Blue Badge’ may be used subject to any conditions imposed by the parking authority.
